I'm an adult learning front crawl now although I know breaststroke. I'm seeing a coach once a week for this and sometimes he seems as perplexed by my flutter kick as I am :) He sometimes says my kicking form looks good (good body position and kicking from the hips) but I move quite slow or sometimes not at all when kicking. He suspects it's because my feet aren't pointed enough or I unpoint them on the upstroke. He says to keep my feet pointed throughout which I try to do but pointing them is towards the end of my ankle's range of motion so that could be it.
Just wondering if someone else had this kind of experience before and what the cause was? Is it just foot pointing/ankle flexibility?
