Charlie horses from kicking?

I’m middle aged I guess, love to swim. I can do all four strokes, and typically practice 60-90 minutes, and up to 100 laps. Not an issue. But anytime I try to do kick only, and specifically, standard flutter kick, I get Charlie horses on my legs between 25-50 yards in. I can swim free or back all practice and do the kick no issues. But when I do it by itself I’ll actually lick up with Charlie horses.

No other activity, swim or in the rest of life, causes this. I’m not prone to getting them or anything. Just kicking.

Anyone else experience this? Salt, bananas, cantaloupe, etc. doesn’t resolve. Any recommendations?
