hello everyone
Im looking for some advice from anyone who has been through some long setbacks or has had to drop the sport to to things like injuries.
Ive been in and out of swimming for over a full season due to problems with both my shoulders and im honestly so tired at this point. I love swimming so much but every time I have to step back I come back and it feels like im right back at square one again. Ill swim for a few weeks and then it flers up and im right back to kicking and square one again.
My doctors are saying that its time to bite the bullet and get a surgery done but that would involve taking bone away and weakening the shoulders so then ive been told it would be the end of my swimming career. Its just really hard to process everything.
swimming has always been my place to get anger out and feel free. I really hoped yo do it until I die but that's looking very far fetched, im not even out of my teens yet.
To make it clear: Im not asking for medical advice. Im more asking for motivation, how i can shift my mindset or lived stories from people who had to step back and adapt.
How do you cope with not being able to do something you love? How do you cope with your body working against you?
Thank you. I really appreciate it.
