Female, 36, training for half Oceanman (5km) After an unexpected and unfortunate long break, I finally got back to (self) training last week. Managed a couple of dry-land sessions and two swims of 3km each with breaks. Friday’s swim was my first real test for a baseline—I went all out, nonstop, just to see where I stand. I was slower than I’d hoped and started tiring sooner than expected. I've lapped every km only to see my trend better but I didn't stop. I'm also new to using a watch :P In the last 750m I switched to breaststroke (my strong suit) to lift my average pace and give my muscles a break. I wonder if I'd be able to switch back to freestyle but I'll only know next Friday when I do another 5K. I know I can push to 5km, but my pace drops off terribly and that’s what I really want to tighten up. This session ended early only because the pool closed. Sharing here since I don’t have a club to train with—doing this solo—so posting to keep myself motivated and out of my own head. If you're doing something similar, give us a shout :) [link] [comments] |
